Painting meaning
The Chakana cross is a symbol of Andean culture and represents our connection with heaven and earth. The four main arms represent the 4 directions on a compass, the 4 elements (earth, water, air and fire), but also the four seasons. The Chakana also represents the Southern Cross, one of the most characteristic constellations in the southern sky. Around it there is a representation of Shipibo art, typical of the Peruvian Amazonian towns. It is mainly characterized by its geometric and colorful shapes. It is a reference to the elements that make up their universe, which they access through visions resulting from introspection induced in ayahuasca ceremonies. It is the design of the sacred, a prayer with which they express their spirituality, their mysticism, their connection with higher beings and ancestors.
